Wendy Ann MacBeth Baker passed away on December 4, 2024 in Bonita, California, at age 89. She grew up in San Francisco, California, and loved her parents, older brother, and her cats. Wendy enjoyed her time working as a babysitter and in a bakery. For college, she went to San Francisco State College and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. She moved to San Diego and taught third grade and sixth grade for six years at an elementary school in the National School District. Then she met her husband, Charles Baker, at a teacher's union meeting where she was the representative from her school. Charles and Wendy got married and she became a homemaker. Her children, Anne and George, came along in the next few years. Wendy accepted Jesus as her Savior.
She was very active as a volunteer with the children's elementary school, and also at Skyline Wesleyan Church. She volunteered in the church prayer room, worked as a junior high Sunday school teacher and camp counselor, taught ladies about the Christian life, did home visitations, and spent many years as a small Home group leader, including for a Senior's group. Wendy enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, cake decorating, folk dancing, caring for her dogs, traveling, talking with friends on the phone, having people over for a meal, and watching Jeopardy TV show.
Others appreciated her encouragement and advice over the years. She had a positive attitude even as she experienced some challenges in her life, such as cancer in the 1970's, and blindness and Alzheimer's disease in her later years.
She is preceeded in death by her parents, Keith Madill MacBeth and Audrey Elaine Pickles MacBeth, her son, George Andrew Baker, and her brother, Keith C. MacBeth. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Charles Arthur Baker, and her daughter, Anne W. Baker, of Bonita, California.
