Ramona Woman Wins Title of Miss Rodeo USA

If you've ever ridden horses, you can understand what an true accomplishment this is.

A 23-year old woman, born and raised in nearby Ramona, just competed and won one of the most prestigious titles in rodeo pageantry. Traveling to Guthrie, Oklahoma—1,342 miles from home—Megan Kelly competed and rose to the top to become Miss Rodeo USA.

“I truly feel so honored and grateful,” said Kelly, who was born and raised in Ramona and won the Miss Ramona title in 2018. “Representing rodeo at the national level is something I have dreamed of for years, and for this dream to have come true is surreal — I am not sure I even still believe it.”

Competing against contestants from Idaho, Texas, Oklahoma, California and Kentucky, Ms. Kelly stepped up and showed them all what a California cowgirl is made of.

At six, she joined 4-H and raised everything from rabbits to cattle. By 2015, she had won the title of Teen Miss Ramona followed by the Miss Ramona title in 2018.

“It is not just this year, this month, or this week that these individuals have positively impacted me,” she said. “It’s  everyone and everything since I was a child that has snowballed into the opportunities today that I truly am so thankful for.”
