Do you find yourself with a little extra time on hand and wanting to help out in your community?
The San Diego County Sheriff's Department Volunteer Sheriff's Patrol (VSP) is looking for citizens 50 years and older who want to serve their community by promoting safety and crime prevention programs. Duties range from traffic control, patrolling neighborhoods, home vacation checks, clerical work and checking on the welfare of elderly or disabled people.
To apply:
Be at least 50 years of age.
Be a U.S. citizen or legal alien who has applied for citizenship.
Possess a valid California Drivers License and car insurance.
Have medical insurance.
Have good moral character. Conviction of a felony is disqualifying.
Pass a complete background check.
Pass the two week Volunteer Patrol Academy Course.
Be physically and emotionally able to perform the duties of the position.
Volunteer a minimum of six hours a week.
