Police Activity Shuts Down San Miguel Road

There was quite a bit of police presence on San Miguel Road yesterday. Once you shut down that road, the community cannot get out of their homes as this is the only way to reach a connecting road leading out of Sunnyside, a rural-residential area.

Neighbors were alerted that something was amiss by the noise of a helicopter circling the skies above the area in the early afternoon. Besides the helicopter, six cars were on the scene, one blocking the road making it impassable.

Local residents returning to the locality were asked to follow a circuitous route led by a sheriff's car in order to get to their homes. San Miguel Road just west of Conduit Road/Loma Del Sol Drive was blocked and inhabitants were all pretty much spending the day at home.

"Does anyone know what's going on at San Miguel Road? 6 cop cars and one blocking the street." wrote one member on Bonita CA Residents (FaceBook).

No response.

All were left in the lurch as there was no news to be found on what was in progress. Many were curious, some were scared. The community has been a little on edge. In the past two months, Sunnyside has been in the news in a negative light. Three dead bodies of victims in their early twenties have been discovered in the area.

Finally the answer came. A response to the previous inquiry.

"Auto theft suspects in custody off San Miguel Road. If you see/hear helicopter, police & sheriff cars."
