Where's Waldo? Or rather . . . Where's Nora?
Neither hide nor hair has been seen of ex-Supervisor District 1 Nora Vargas since she abruptly left her position in January. She had been re-elected for a second term and refused to take her oath.
Nearly 650,000 residents—including the Bonita-Sunnyside area— have been without representation since January 2025. That's a quarter of the year.
Today we're appealing the San Diego Planning Commission's decision to build a 1200 unit storage facility in Bonita. We don't have a Supervisor to support us at the Appeal.
Nora has been invisible with people wondering if she was still in the States or back in Mexico. I can confirm that she was in the States yesterday.
My friend's neighbor opened up the new Flora Cafe in Bonita. It's located at 4374 Bonita Road, Suite 100, in the Von's Shopping Center. So we were there yesterday trying out the new menu. The food is excellent.

Sitting one table over was Nora Vargas. I wouldn't have even know it was her but she recognized me and did a double take. I must have etched myself in her memory when I spoke at her last State of Bonita meeting.
I did not speak with her. Yesterday was the vote for a new District 1 Supervisor to replace her. This election could cost the taxpayers up towards $6 million. Best I not speak.
This article is to let you know that Nora Vargas still lives and breathes.
Stop by Flora Cafe and you may see her there!
