No Response . . .

One of the things that bothered me about ex-Supervisor Nora Vargas, is that she never (in my experience with her) returned a phone call or answered an email. These were the only two ways to contact her and you were just disregarded. It was like we were peons and she couldn't be bothered with her constituents.
The last four years were strange to say the least and many things have gone downhill. I was used to having Supervisors like Greg Cox and Diane Jacob, who got back to you fairly quickly or had their staff contact you. You weren't ignored.
I attended a meeting with Chula Vista Councilmember Carolina Chavez late last year and I noticed the same behavior. People were complaining that she had not answered their emails and she kept skirting around the issue. Not just a few people, the entire room was upset. One man was about to lose his food permit because he couldn't get a response from Ms. Chavez. I remember thinking at the time, this is just the way Nora acts. Once in office, they become invisible to your needs and work only on their pet projects. What I witnessed in that meeting was enough to warn me what type of Supervisor Carolina Chavez would be if she was voted in.
On Monday of this week, I published the phone numbers and emails of our remaining four Supervisors. Sunday night, I wrote each of them asking for them to please vote for an election to let the people pick the new Supervisor. Two of the Supervisors responded right away, Supervisor Jim Desmond and Supervisor Joel Anderson. As for Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer and Supervisor Monica Montgomery Steppe . . . crickets. Not a word has been heard. And these two women who voted with Nora Vargas for a Super Sanctuary have visibly backed off. Maybe they should re-vote that, too.
