What was that stuff falling from the sky today? Well it was something we haven't seen much of for a while . . . rain. And there is more of it on the way!
We have a 90% change of rain on Thursday and a 40% change of rain on Friday. If you live in a low-lying area or a home partial to flooding, you'll want to pick up some sand bags. You can find those at our local Bonita-Sunnyside Fire Station, located at 4900 Bonita Road, Bonita. You might want to call ahead to 619-479-2346 to make sure that there's still some left. These are for use by unincorporated residents only.
There are currently two severe weather alerts.
A flood watch—with a severe rating that could cause a significant threat to life or property—is expected to hit tonight (March 12th) at 10PM. It is predicted to continue through Thursday afternoon in San Diego County coastal areas, mountains and valleys.
A wind advisory—with a moderate rating that could cause a significant threat to life or property—is expected to hit Thursday (March 13th) at 12PM. Wind gusts of 15 - 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph anticipated. It will continue until about 8PM in San Diego County coastal areas and valleys.
What impacts could we endure? Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects so batten down the hatches! Sometimes tree limbs could be blown down and possibly a few power lines in extreme winds so stand somewhere else.
If you have plans to be on the road, the County offers ten tips for safe travel.
If you don't need to be out there, you might want to relax with a cup of hot cocoa and a good book. Stay safe, Bonita!
