CalEPA Environmental Complaint System

Several of you have mentioned air pollution issues from the 10,000 toll avoidance vehicles cutting through the heart of rural Bonita-Sunnyside. Those of you living on Proctor Valley Road, San Miguel Road, Bonita Road, Sweetwater Road and Briarwood Road know what I'm talking about.

Here is a place to complain about the air pollution you are exposed to daily.

Go to the CalEPA Complaint System and check "Air". It will ask you to describe the complaint, enter your address, identify the responsible party (SANDAG, 401 B St #800, San Diego, CA 92101, (619) 699-1900), choose an air concern (vehicle) and date(s) of occurence. You can also attach photos or documents. A couple of photos of the traffic density should do the trick.

You can also report by phone. "Reporting air quality concerns is at your fingertips! Download the mobile apps at the links below."

The mobile app allows you to report air quality concerns such as odors, dust, asbestos, smoke, and others directly to us. We investigate each concern submitted to verify compliance with air quality regulations in our jurisdiction within 48 hours or less.

Available in Spanish / Disponible en español

To use the app in Spanish, simply change the language settings on your device to "Español."

Para usar la aplicación en español, simplemente cambie la configuración de idioma en su dispositivo a “Español.”

The final methods to report air quality concerns is just a regular phone call to (858) 586-2650 or e-mail to apcdcomp@sdapcd.org. For after-hours concerns, please call (858) 586-2650 and select option 2.

The following information will assist them in investigating your concern:

  • Your name, address, and telephone number

  • The time and date the air quality concern occurred and whether it is still continuing

  • The nature of the air quality concern (smoke, dust, odor, or other)

  • The name and address of the alleged source and the type of operation causing it, if known

Maybe if enough people enter a complaint, the Air Resources Board will have to address the issue of the 10,000 daily polluters. Please take five minutes to file a complaint.
