Did you know chickens can improve the quality of your soil, reduce waste, and help save you money? Join us to learn all about raising backyard chickens in this FREE workshop!

Solana Center’s experienced educators will teach you the basics of how to raise chickens at home.
There are many benefits of having your own flock, including:
Producing fresh, high-quality eggs
Helping keep food waste out of the landfill
Protecting your garden from pests
Creating natural soil amendments
Having fun! Chickens make great pets with distinct personalities
All pre-registered attendees who are residents of unincorporated San Diego County will receive a FREE kitchen scraps container, courtesy of the County of San Diego. Guests must pre-register to attend. Register here.
In this workshop, we will cover:
Local regulations for keeping backyard chickens
Basic requirements for making a chicken coop
Feeding and care to keep hens healthy and happy, and
Local and online resources
Workshop will take place at Spring Valley Library—836 Kempton Street, Spring Valley on Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 10:00AM -12:00 noon.
